Who We Are
Partners in Development and Center for Holistic Transformation (PICOT) is a non-profit, indigenous Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered in Uganda, dedicated to fostering sustainable development across the West Nile region. Established in 2005 as a Community-Based Organization (CBO) by a group of visionary youth, PICOT has grown into a reputable institution focused on addressing key social, economic, and environmental challenges in the region.
Operating across six districts—Koboko, Maracha, Yumbe, Terego, Madi-Okollo, and Arua—PICOT is committed to transforming communities through impactful programs in agriculture, health, education, climate change, governance, and human rights. Our approach is rooted in community participation, working closely with local governments, civil society organizations, and development partners to achieve meaningful and lasting change.
Our work is guided by a clear mission to mobilize and empower communities for holistic development, a vision of holistically transformed communities, and a motto that inspires us: “Inspiring Communities to Transform Lives.”
At the heart of PICOT are our Core values of voluntarism, teamwork, inclusiveness, accountability, Innovativeness, participation, and partnerships. These values drive our commitment to uplifting vulnerable groups such as youth, women, and people with disabilities, ensuring they have the tools, skills, and opportunities to thrive.
Together, we are building a brighter, more inclusive future for Northern Uganda
